Michael Voitcu - Captain

Captain Michael Voitcu grew up in Florham Park and was a member of both the Volunteer Fire Department and First Aid Squad prior to beginning his career with the Florham Park Police Department in January 1995. After successfully graduating from the 45th Basic Police Class at the Morris County Police Academy. Captain Voitcu was assigned to the Patrol Division, where he worked closely with the Traffic Safety Bureau and received advanced training from Northwestern University in motor vehicle crash investigation and reconstruction.

In 2006 Captain Voitcu was transferred to the Traffic Safety Bureau and was promoted to Sergeant in 2008. Captain Voitcu implemented the “Keep Kids Alive, Drive 25” program, “Wheels on your feet, Helmet on your head”, and started the department’s Motorcycle Unit.

In 2010 Captain Voitcu was reassigned to the Patrol Division where he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in December of 2010, and in 2014 Captain Voitcu was reassigned to the Support Services Division where had taken on many responsibilities within the department including grant writing, fleet management, IT, and records. 

He was promoted to the Rank of Captain on February 1, 2018.  He has attended numerous advanced training classes throughout his career including the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (LEEDS), FBI Leadership and Supervision, the Chiefs of Police Command and Leadership Program, Rutgers Traffic Engineering, the New Jersey Chiefs of Police/MAGLOCLEN Leadership Program. 

Captain Voitcu is a current member of the Morris County Critical Incident Debriefing Team and the Fatal Accident Investigation Team.
