Patrol Division
The Patrol
Division is the largest organizational unit within the Florham Park
Police Department with 26 uniformed police officers. The Patrol
Division includes the Traffic safety Unit, Dispatchers, Dispatchers
and bicycle patrol. All uniformed Officers are cross-trained
emergency medical technicians. The Patrol Division is available 24
hours a day, 7 days a week and averages 9,000 calls for service
yearly.
These police
officers are responsible for performing a variety of duties while on
patrol or foot patrol related to our basic mission of the protection
of life and property. Some of these responsibilities are observance
of state statutes and local ordinances, traffic enforcement,
accident investigations, preliminary criminal investigations,
emergency medical calls, and general quality of life concerns.
Florham Park has
approximately 7.5 square miles of mostly residential areas but with
a unique central business district, strip malls, shopping centers
and light commercial industry. The Borough of Florham Park has seven
contagious towns Madison, Chatham Borough Millburn Township
Livingston Township Morristown Borough, Morris Township East Hanover
Township. Route 24 is a major East-West artery that bisects the
western part of the borough. The Florham Park police department
provides mutual aid when requested to its surrounding neighbors.
With Education
and training the patrol division is equipped with the latest
technology to foster efficient and effective service to the
community. Marked police cars are equipped with mobile data
computers (MDT's) that rapidly access vital information. We have
also equipped are police cars with mobile vision cameras to record
all traffic stops to provide safety and training to our police and
the public. Further, we have An emergency Services Vehicle and Four
Bicycles to enhance our patrolling techniques.
The members of
the Patrol Division are committed in providing the best service it
can to enhance the quality of life for borough residents.
