About Florham Park Police
In 1925 Chief
Edward C. Stanton Was the Boroughs First Officer Chief Stanton
Patrolled on a part time basis with the assistance of the NJ State
Police.
Chief Stanton
Was succeeded by Marshal Theodore (Ted) Slate. Marshal Slate was a
Graduate of the Newark Police Academy in 1928, and was the son of a
Newark Police Officer. Marshal Slate was Promoted to Chief in 1931.
Chief Slate Patrolled the Borough on a Patrol Bicycle.
In 2006 Chief
Kim D. Chapman continued the Community Policing Philosophy and
promotes the methodologies designed to focus on the building of
police partnerships and problem solving policing techniques. The
Florham Park Police Department has been able to provide some of our
long-term mission goals:
- Increasing our ability to impact crime
- Reducing fear of crime
- Addressing quality of life issues
- Coordinating and utilizing private and public resources
- Increase understanding and trust between the police and the
people
- Creating a network of assistance and guidance
- Technical support in problem solving and using a more
strategic approach toward reducing crime
- Medical and EMS cross training officers
- Senior citizen awareness and safety programs, medical and
educational in nature
