Captain Joseph Orlando -
The Captain serves as the Executive Officer and oversees the Support Services and Operations Division of the Department.
Joseph J. Orlando began his law enforcement career in June of 1997 after successfully completing the Alternate Route Training Program, as part of the 49th Basic Police Training Class, at the Morris County Fire and Police Training Academy. Upon graduation Orlando was assigned to the Patrol Division where he was awarded with several commendations for interdiction in narcotic and alcohol related incidents.
Orlando was assigned to the Detective Bureau in 2005 and served in that capacity until he was promoted to Detective Sergeant in 2008. Orlando was recognized by the Borough and the Morris County Detectives Association for his successful investigation into the burglary and theft of copper wire, in excess of $100,000, from the LAPP Group on Hanover Road in 2008. In 2011 he was awarded the New Jersey Security Association Award for his 2010 investigation into a multi-jurisdictional and multi-state check fraud ring victimizing account holders at various local banks.
Orlando served as a Patrol Sergeant from 2011 until 2015 at which time he was reassigned to the Detective Bureau and promoted to his current position of Detective Lieutenant responsible for overseeing the Division of Investigation, Community Policing Division and the Juvenile Aide Bureau.
Over the course of his career Orlando has been assigned, on several occasions, to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office as a Narcotics Task Force member and has served in an undercover capacity.
Orlando has served as the PBA Treasurer and President and currently serves as Treasurer for the Charles Dowd Scholarship Committee.
Orlando has obtained advanced training in several areas of investigative techniques and is a graduate of the Command and Leadership Program. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
